Hey y’all, [2dreamagain] here.

We are making the first major logo change in nearly 5 years of organizing Between2Clouds events. When we first started, we had no intention of throwing dance parties or the kind of social events we do now. We were a bunch of friends putting together a lived streamed stand up comedy, live music, dj, and food event out of our house in the middle of the woods in Wake Forest. We had just moved to the area, met some folks, and had an idea to put a hangout together like that. At the time, Between2Clouds was my artist moniker, but the original idea of where the name came from was more of an inspired vision of what I wanted my life to be like.

Very early on in pursuing these intimate, private events with friends, it became clear that Between2Clouds and those ideas were never meant to be exclusively for myself, but for those around me and who enjoyed it over time. I had to let go of the moniker and it took years to stumble upon the 2dreamagain artist name I utilize now for myself.

Between2Clouds has changed rapidly over the years and after putting on nearly 300 events of various formats, mediums, in dozens of different locations, multiple cities, and with hundreds of other collaborators, we are now getting a pretty good sense of the direction we feel most at home with.

Everything we do is built from the ground up based on our own ideas and hopes for the kind of environments and situations we would like to experience and think others would too.

The initial logo only kind of represented this, but the story is super interesting.

Years ago, my guess being back in 2016, I was looking to get a logo made for myself. This was back when I went by between2clouds to represent the poetry I wrote and music I made, before I ever considered DJing or making dance music. I was in a period of life where I was trying to find myself, so I would have some assistance*, look in the mirror, reflect profusely, and write a lot in journals and notebooks. Much of this was through poetry, drawn sketches, and journal entries. For some reason, I would jot down this image in my head of an infinity sign and this semi circle above and connected to it. It happened over the course of several months, dozens of times. I would not try to re-create it either, it just continued to feel right when I was in that mode of scribing down what I was feeling.

Well, when I went to get the logo made, by a random fella from the UK on fiverr that a friend had found, I had not considered telling this guy about the image. What I did express that I wanted out of the logo were varying characteristics of the kind of art I wanted to make, utilizing the colors of light blue, green, and light grey, and for it to be personally empowering and uplifting, reflective of my current space I was in my life.

When we received the logo in return, it was this:

I was taken aback, seeing that same image I had scribbled in my journals dozens of times. So, it of course became the logo, crafted by a random fella overseas.

Over the years as we got better at graphic design and understanding more of what we were doing, we updated that same logo a handful of times, keeping the original core design as there was no desire to change it, of course.

Below are most (probably all) of the iterations of the logo over the years:

All of the changes were made by either myself or Nicolette over the years. We always stuck to that primary design of a person sitting, with arms overhead, connected to the infinity sign and semi circle above.

I have always been content with it too. Around mid May of 2023, I was doodling around in a graphic design software, trying to have some fun with the logo for random uses, as we like to keep things fresh and unique when we can have fun with it.

And one of the designs that came out was this:

I did not think much of it at the time, as my mind was elsewhere with some great parties and exciting changes behind the scenes coming up, but sitting in a coffee shop in Raleigh on June 18th, around 4pm, I thought to revisit some of these designs, almost instinctually.

When seeing this again, it hit me pretty hard, and it is something I fully designed myself. Between2Clouds has always been about 100% authenticity, transparency, honesty, and doing things our own way. The initial logo was always fantastic, but it was never fully ours.

So, it is time for that little logo change to something fully between2clouds, fully us.

I hope you enjoyed the story behind it and will enjoy the stories I will share with y’all in the future too.
