Long-time collaborator of Between2Clouds

Hi friend
Welcome to my artist page. I am Nicolette.

I draw, paint, DJ, write, make videos, and do what I can to help Between2Clouds spaces exist.
I live a fairly nomadic lifestyle, frequenting places where our events take place and that the people I care for are. I am currently in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, MX, working on a self-portrait series that I am excited about and spending time with some old friends.
Nicolette. @ Rhythms of Life in Joshua Tree, California, USA
This is my first recorded DJ set- over four months in the making! Enjoy :-)
The idea for this set was born on a dance floor in Scottsdale, Arizona, when my friend Ethan Maurice (Videographer) told me I should “pull his arm a little harder” to film a set. A few weeks later, we found ourselves in Joshua Tree with our friends Matthew Hahn and Laura McGreary (support), staying at an incredible desert camping compound and preparing to shoot.
It was freezing and the tents were getting flattened by harsh winds. But the compound had a hot tub and a sauna, so we would scurry into those safe havens to hang out with each other when the cold was too much.
Drone photography is banned in Joshua Tree National Park, so we left the campsite early on Sunday to drive around and find a nice spot to shoot. Rhythms of Life was a happy coincidence that Laura spotted on the map nearby.
Rhythms of Life is the world's largest contemporary land art project by Andrew Rogers, featuring 51 monumental stone geoglyphs worldwide, visible from space. Inspired by history and contemporary ideas, the sculpture in this video represents the interconnectedness of life, time, and nature. It features the symbol of an atlatl—a prehistoric spear-throwing tool used by early hunter-gatherers to improve speed and accuracy—representing innovation, survival, and humanity's deep connection to the land.
This set is inspired by the beauty of the landscape around Joshua Tree and the warmth I have for my friends. Throughout the video, you’ll see footage from our weekend in Joshua Tree—not just of the shoot but of the shared moments that made the trip special.
While this video focuses on those present, the warmth I refer to extends beyond them. It reflects the beauty and connection I’ve been fortunate to experience with so many people, whether for fleeting moments or lasting years.
I am incredibly grateful to have friends that are so willing to try something new and see where it goes. Thank you, Laura, Ethan, and Matthew, for your support, encouragement, and openness.
